A Break from the Desk

Leaders, make sure you take some time off during the Christmas Holidays. Leaders need time to rest and rejuvenate. Spend quality time with your family and friends. Take time to do something you really want to do, go see a good movie, go skating, read a good book, begin a gym routine, or do absolutely nothing. Take the time to rest your body and brain.   Image Source Take one day during your time off to review everything that happened the first semester. Think about the processes you had in place and decide what you can do to make those processes better. This is the opportunity to review your plans and revise the parts that are in need. Image Source Think about how you will communicate the changes to the staff when school opens in January. Take a minute to review in your head all the questions that the staff might ask so you can have a logical answer. This is the time to think about what you as a leader can do to improve yourself...

A Christmas for Leading and Giving

December is a wonderful month.   We get to celebrate the birth of Jesus, share or bounty with friends and family, visit those who live far and near, and eat much more than we should. During this time, it is a good idea to remember those less fortunate, especially the children in our schools, churches, and communities. There are so many children who will not receive a gift for the holiday. They won’t get to purchase new clothes and shoes; they may not have the wonderful family dinner most of us share.   Image Source This is the perfect time for leaders to teach children to give and to share. Ask each child in your school to bring a gift for the children in need. Allow each classroom to build their own basket, by bringing food items to make a great Xmas dinner.
